Hi, I can't find the tap of "upload multiple files". Could anyone tell me what is happening? I have created a document library. In the "Upload" menu, there isonly one choice - "Upload Document". After clicking on that, there is still nothing related to "multiple files". I understand that I could use the explorer view to upload, but I just wonder if there is any other method which can handle this. Thank you very much. Jensan

Upload multiple files is only available if you have at least Office 2003 installed on your client.

I have Office 2003 Pro SP2 and still no Upload Multiple files... A mention of repair has been made. Is that a repair on the sharepoint install or the Office 2003? Thanks in advance.

Repair Office 2003 instead of Sharepoint. You may need the CD to do this.

I have a client that has stated that they have MS Office 2000 installed and while using the same browser (IE 6), one of them does not have the "Upload Multiple Files" option while the other does. Does any one know of any possible reasons why this could be that I can investigate with them?

Most likely the have some other product (such as FrontPage 2003, SharePoint Designer 2007, or Outlook 2003 / 2007). There are a few applications in the 2003 / 2007 environment that will install the related COM DLLs for Multiple File Upload.

You are correct in your assessment that different versions of Office on the same machine "breaks" many things in SharePoint 3 or MOSS 2007. I just distributed Outlook 2007 to my 150 users and kept them using Office 2003 Professional.This has caused many issues in my company and confused many of our employees. MOSS 2007 has allowed my company to streamline many of our processes. The decision to upgrade one application in Office has caused many of our users to stop using Sharepoint. Problem 1 IE 7 crashed whenever a user tried to open a document. Microsoft then explains a hotfix needs to be installed. http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/938888 Problem 2 Some machines, but not all still had the problem. I found some work arounds on the net that the owssupp.dll file would need to be renamed in the older Office directory. So because all my clients have Office 2003 and Outlook 2007, only one of the two .dll's can be registered at one time. When I register the 2003 version, 2007 features break, and visa-versa. Irritating... http://support.microsoft.com/kb/833714 Even still, IE6 or 7 would still crash. I was finally able to repair Outlook 2007 which stopped crashing issues. This problem has been resolved in my orgasnisation. It came down to having two different versions of Office. We upgraded everyone to Outlook 2007 and left the remaining applications at 2003. This caused way too many problems including the one mentioned in this thread. Also OWSSUPP.dll caused many more problems with compatibility because of 2003 and 2007 coexisting on the same machine. Hi, I have exactly the same issue with my server (2003) at school. Following a reinstall of wss 3.0 I have lost many of the functions such as multiple uploads, connect to outlook, export to excel etc. I've tried registering the dll's (http://technet2.microsoft.com/Office/en-us/library/4fba0222-8b7a-4ae1-af64-e8050263784e1033.mspx?mfr=true) but no luck as well as repair install of wss, office 2007 sharepoint components, the lot. I installed wss 3.0 on aserver at home and I can use all these features. When I log into school on the same pc I don't have them so I am not convinved its a client issue. Any advice would be appreciated as its getting frustrating! Sam

Actually I'd be interested how you resolved the problem. With the mix of Office 2007 and Office 2003 apps causing (known) problems, did you solve it by going back to Outlook 2003 (i.e. to all 2003 level apps) or by upgrading all your other Office apps to 2007 (which your bold, caps text rightly said is costly) ?

I know this is an old topic but I found it while looking for a solution, I have made a few posts latley about access writes and being an admin and I have found this community VERY helpful. I am almost to my goal I am trying to upload a flash gallery that I made to our site but I cant upload multiple files (I am running office 2007 shouldnt this be fine? is there any work around for this? maybe upload a zip or something? Hi LanGun,Go to Start/All Programs/Microsoft Office/Microsoft Office Tools/Microsoft Office DIagnosticsrun the diagnostics. It always seems to take a while at '2 of 20' but always fixes these weird SharePoint issues, including the mysterious vanishing Multiple Document uploads for my users. In fact, anything weird that occurs with SharePoint document click throughs, opening in read-only mode, datasheet errors, etc. Run this...these dlls can go out of wack periodically. If it hangs somewhere else than 2 of 20, say 13 of 20, then it is probably fixing other office issues.Good luck,Rebecca

Someone should write a proper whitepaper about these sharepoint functions (multiple upload, open with windows explorer, save from Word). The core content is a table stating Yes/No per OS (XP|W7) and Office (Std|Pro) versions. And do the same again passing through ISA, TMG and UAG. I promise you that the best is XP with Office 2003 Pro. Bad, badder, badst ....
